Goodbye Winter, Hello Winter!
Over the 40 hour trip, we should see some quite spectacular scenery which will obviously be sprinkled with some not so great scenery but the best part is we will see seven states in our first two weeks of living in the US.
The reason for the move is to do with Steve’s job. It is an amazing opportunity for us and one we couldn’t pass up. We found out a week after we had moved in to our first home making the news bittersweet since we would only get a few short months in our home before passing it on to tenants who will hopefully love it as much as we do.
I gave up my job (and finish in two weeks) and am excited at the prospect of getting a new job overseas, although that won’t be until my work visa comes through after a while, so I should have plenty of time to explore my new neighbourhood and most importantly, find good garden. Teddy will be a good companion for this exploring.
I think for me, I am most nervous about what I’ll miss out on while I am over there but I shouldn’t be. Life goes on, people live and do their own things and so will I be. I’m grateful for skype and facetime because they will be the tools that will make the gap over the ocean a smaller one.
So back to loving Winter. Well, Winter in DC is cold and it sometimes snows. I love Winter here and maybe that’s because of the mild days and the cool evenings, which will be far different to the bone chilling Winter I will experience in DC. Ask me at the end of Winter if it is still my favourite season and we will see what my answer is then.
I’m so excited for you and so sad you’re disappearing at the same time. Plus side for me, I have someone to visit in the US now.
